The article "Why You Should Be a Student of Your Own Life" was a very inspiring one to say the least. There were many points that I was able to relate to in just that short read. Some of the points that related directly to me included:
1.) Basing things off my own experiences. If I don't pay attention to what I have done in the past, both failures and achievements, I may end up repeating them. The achievement aspect of that is not as big of a deal as the failures would be. If I pay attention to everything that has gone wrong in the past, I can fix those mistake in the future. 2.) Basing things off other people's own experiences. I have had friends get in trouble in major ways due to dumb mistakes, either with the school or with the law. Yes, some of these mistakes I would never even dream of doing, but some were just honest teenage mistakes. Learning from others is a big part of succeeding. 3.) Always keep the mind alive. The articles talks about feeding the minds with good information to keep it sharp. Always keeping your mind keen is very important for a student, or anyone for that matter.

"If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you."
This quote is important to me taking this class because this class seems like it is going to be a challenge with all the work and how it is also a hybrid, so it will really help me in the long run. Mr. Daly's goal is to challenge us because he knows it will be a major help for us in the long run. This is such a better opportunity for me than taking a blow off class or something easy. This class can benefit in such major ways and I am really happy I decided to take it. |
